Sarah's WDWA Story
I'm Sarah Majeski. In 2009, my husband and I moved to Erin, where we have been raising our three boys and working in our family business. During those early years, I paused my career in business development to focus on my family. As our passion for gardening grew beyond our one-acre property, we decided to purchase a farm just outside Hillsburgh, only five minutes away.
Within two years, I successfully established a closed-loop farming system on our farm, complete with pigs, goats, chickens, and a one-acre organic grow space. To manage the farm efficiently and share its bounty, I opened our gates to others interested in learning about farming. This endeavor led to the creation of "The Collective," a thriving female-powered farm community.
The sense of intentional community fostered by "The Collective" inspired me to connect with the other women involved in our farming efforts. I wanted to explore the possibility of forming a broader-reaching association where we could collaborate, support, and uplift one another, recognizing that together, we are stronger.
While the farm welcomed a revolving door of female companionship, the vision for the Wellington Dufferin Women's Association (WDWA) was to extend this camaraderie beyond our immediate surroundings and into the wider Dufferin and Wellington areas, providing a space for like-minded, empowered women to come together and thrive.
